Amazing! Ro will be 2 weeks tomorrow!!!

How the sweet time does pass so quickly! Somedays I wish I could slow it down so we could savor each moment just a little bit more. We can't believe that it was nearly 2 weeks ago that we were in the hospital giving birth to our beautiful son...we are all adjusting very well and Amelia continues to amaze us with her empathy, sincerity and love for her new baby brother. She constantly wants to help and know what he is doing. She has always amazed us, but after having another little one around she is even that much MORE amazing! She is so smart, kind, loving and what a sense of humor she has!!! Every now and then I have to track her down as I'm sure she's off examining Robert... here I caught her in the sweet act of finding a book and taking it to his bassinet side and was reading it to Robert and showing him the pictures. How thoughtful is that??

I keep saying how much Robert looks like Amelia did at her infancy... here is a comparison for you to decide for yourself :) The right photo is of Robert and the left photo is of
Amelia at about the same age! Enjoy!

Here is little Robert enjoying his first time in the beautiful sling Dana's parents got for us. I love it!!! He really enjoys it as do I, I can keep him close by but still have my hands free. I used a sling with Amelia when she was a little bit older which was wonderful, but there is something about snuggling a newborn in a sling :)

THE BABY HAS ARRIVED!

Hello friends and family. While this blog is usually updated by Chris, but I had to sit down and make a post.

In case you hadn't heard, we are now the proud parents of a brand new baby boy! To the left is an image of my dear wife the night before we gave birth. Robert James Mcneil was born 3/2/07 at 1:49pm. He was 20 1/4" long and 7lbs 15oz of pure joy. Chris was absolutely remarkable. As with Amelia, she did the whole works without painkillers, and I can tell you, from having been there, it was painful! But she got through it with such grace and determination. I was simply in awe. When Robert was born Chris continued to amaze me with how "with it" she was... just talking, walking, excited and terrific. Wow... the other day I hit my thumb with a hammer and I had to take a break for like an hour.... You can see to the left, a picture of Chris with Robert just after delivery.
We spent two days at the hospital which was nice. Chris was pretty sore for a while and it was great to have the help of the nurses there to take care of Robert and Chris (and me... it was a traumatic experience!). During this time many family members came to see us.

Sorry the formatting is all wierd... there' s really no excuse considering I used to develop web sites like this for a living... ;-)

Anyways, Robert has been doing great, and so is Chris. We came home from the hospital and my family was around to help out with Robert and Amelia while I put some finishing touches on the nursery and the like. Our first night was pretty long with Amelia waking up every hour or so and Robert waking up every couple of hours. I think Amelia is adjusting a little to the idea of someone else getting so much attention. Regardless, she's been terrific, and is always wanting to hold robert and give him attention. Last night we got some good sleep with Chris only having to wake up twice to feed Robert. Yahoo!
I've got a couple of weeks off of work and I'll be staying at home helping out and doing a few projects on the house. There are so many more photos to share, but this thing is crazy to try and add pictures to. I'm sure Chris will be posting some more soon!
